A disturbing surveillance video from a Los Angeles hotel hallway shows Sean “Diddy” Combs physically assaulting his then-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, in 2016. The footage, obtained by CNN on Friday, appears to support some of the allegations Ventura, 37, made against Combs, 54, in a November 2023 lawsuit, which cited instances of physical abuse.
The altercation reportedly took place at the now-closed InterContinental Hotel in Century City, California, on March 5, 2016. In the video, Ventura, who is known professionally as Cassie, is seen hurriedly exiting a hotel room carrying several bags. She is dressed in a black hoodie, jeans, and is barefoot, moving quickly towards the elevators.
Shortly after Ventura exits, Combs appears in the footage wearing only a bath towel and socks. He runs toward Ventura, grabbing her by the back of the neck and throwing her to the floor. Combs then turns to kick her. After picking up Ventura’s bags from the floor near the elevators, he kicks her again and drags her by her hoodie toward a room before walking away.
Ventura is then seen slowly standing up, gathering her belongings, and moving to pick up a phone on the wall near the elevators. Combs returns, shoves her, and then sits in a chair in the hallway. He subsequently grabs an object from a nearby table and forcefully throws it toward Ventura.
“The gut-wrenching video has only further confirmed the disturbing and predatory behavior of Mr. Combs,” Ventura’s attorney, Douglas H. Wigdor, stated to Page Six. The lawsuit claims that while the two were inside the hotel room, the “I’ll Be Missing You” rapper became “extremely intoxicated and punched Ms. Ventura in the face, giving her a black eye.”
According to the suit, after Combs fell asleep, Ventura tried to leave the room, but he woke up and “followed her into the hallway of the hotel while yelling at her.” The filing further alleges, “He grabbed at her and then took glass vases in the hallway and threw them at her, causing glass to crash around them as she ran to the elevator to escape.”
